Human Resources and Training Assistant
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week.
Must be available to work all public service hours; including evenings, weekends, and Sunday.

As I perform administrative support during the recruitment and selection process of new employees, I will be enthusiastic and passionate about the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library. As a member of the Human Resources team I will efficiently prioritize my tasks to meet all needs of the team I support while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and accurate records. I will assist the Training Specialist in scheduling, training, and employee on-boarding. I need to be detail-oriented and organized, have strong communication and customer service skills, solid understanding of MS Office, and familiarity with applicant tracking database systems.

My Positional Role
In cooperation with the Human Resources Team and other colleagues, I will advance the Library's mission, vision, strategic priorities and brand by being a curious and engaged learner. I will share my ideas while regularly performing general office duties and clerical support. I will maintain confidentiality in performance of all duties due to privacy laws relating to human resources including maintaining records, files and documents as assigned. I will work with hiring teams to screen and choose the most qualified candidates while responding to emails and other written correspondence professionally; accurately updating candidate records and procession rejection letters. I will identify passive and actively searching talent through traditional and non-traditional methods. I will schedule candidate interviews and interview using behavioral techniques to determine the most qualified candidate. I will coordinate logistics for new hire orientation and employee training and assist in training and on-boarding. I will efficiently document Human Resources and Training processes and maintain miscelaneous records. I will participate in special projects or other duties as assigned.
What I Need to Know to Be Successful
I need to have an Associates/Technical degree and moderate experience of interviewing skills or equivalent combination of education and experience. I need to have excellent skills in Microsoft products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and prior clerical experience in a human resources position.
Previous experience interacting with candidates, carrying a solid understanding of staffing/hiring and interacting in a diplomatic manner, ability to move between tasks and change gears as needed with minimal disruption to flow, excellent attention to detail, very strong interpersonal skills – including a high degree of professionalism, sense of urgency, diplomacy and commitment to confidentially is a must.
I need a valid driver's license.
What I Need to Know About the Physical Requirements
My work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
